Dana has been working on watershed issues in Oregon and northern California since 1994. She helped form the Long Tom Watershed Council as the Watershed Coordinator in 1998 and was hired to continue as Executive Director in 2007 when the Council became a 501(c)3 nonprofit. She was awarded the Spirit of the Oregon Plan Award by Governor Kitzhaber in 2000, helped create and publish the Willamette Atlas of Watershed Councils, and was a founding officer of the Network of Oregon Watershed Councils 2004-07. In 2016 Dana transitioned to part-time as the Special Projects Lead so she could also pursue other passions. For LTWC she brings abilities in collaboration, social and environmental science, project management and grants to bear in fulfilling the Long Tom River Habitat Improvement Plan. Her degrees are in Natural Resource Planning from Humboldt State University (BS, 1994) and Resource Geography from OSU (MS, 1999). She has worked as an assistant city planner, timber-harvest consultant, soil scientist, teaching and research fellow and principal planner. She has co-authored papers in peer-reviewed journals and completed continuing training in nonprofit management and watershed science professional courses. She has been a keynote and session speaker, led workshops at national conferences, and organized statewide conferences and events. Dana’s passion for people, collaboration and common-sense ecological stewardship led her to contribute her time and money to the opening of a “green” building store in Corvallis called Your Green Home in 2004, which she and her partner successfully sold 3 years later. Dana lives in Eugene with her family.
