Fish Passage & Riparian Restoration at Deck Family Farm

This project improved water quality, streamside vegetation, and fish migration on Deck Family Farm west of Junction City. Deck Family Farm is approximately seven miles west of Junction City on Owens & Turnbow Creeks—tributaries to Bear Creek. The 320-acre farm is certified organic for beef, poultry, and the land they raise it on. The Council replaced an undersized culvert that hampered fish passage for cutthroat trout on Owens Creek with a bridge. This opened up approximately 6.5 miles of stream for fish passage. Water quality and streamside habitat were also improved through the installation of livestock fencing and planting of native trees and shrubs along Turnbow Creek.
