Thursday, Dec 11
5:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Fern Ridge Public Library, Veneta

Speakers & Topics

Join the Long Tom Watershed Council for a free public workshop on Northwest beavers and their role in our watershed. Watershed Scientist Dr. Katie Holzer and Ecologist Jean-Paul Zagarola will share insights into beaver biology, how their distribution has changed over time, where beavers are most likely to live in the Long Tom Watershed, and how they influence water quality, fish habitat, and urban green stormwater systems.
We’ll also discuss practical strategies for coexisting with beavers, including tools highlighted through LTWC’s localized BRAT (Beaver Restoration Assessment Tool) work. After a 40-minute presentation, we’ll open the floor for Q&A.
