Oregon Small Woodlands Association Seedling Sale

Saturday, February 5th
8 – 11 a.m. (or until sold out)

Lane County Oregon Small Woodlands Association (OSWA) will host its Annual Seedling Sale on Saturday, February 5th, 2022 at Alton Baker Park (100 Day Island Road, Eugene – Building B: east end of the park).  Hours are 8:00 to 11:00 or until sold out (please arrive early to receive a number for entrance – sales are on a first come first serve).  While waiting to enter pavilion, Oregon Dept. of Forestry representative, Dan Menk, and Lauren Grand, OSU Extension Forester, will be on hand to answer questions.  Once the sale begins, for social distancing, 10 folks will be asked to enter at a time.

This popular event offers a range of bare root/plug native seedling trees and native bare root plants, potted Deer Fern and potted Oregon White Oak.  Due to limited supply from the nurseries, some species will sell out early.  To provide seedlings for those coming to the sale, a limit of 100 of each species will be in place from 8:00-9:30.  After 9:30 any quantity can be acquired. (Thanks for the understanding; the last few years some early purchasers took every single tree available – leaving nothing left for other; this is an attempt to provide trees and plants for as many folks as possible).

*Tree species include Douglas-fir $1.25, Noble fir $1.50, Western Red Cedar $1.50, Incense-cedar $1.50, Coastal Redwood $1.50, Giant Sequoia $1.50, Grand fir $1.25, Willamette Valley Ponderosa Pine $1.25, Oregon White Oak (2 gallon pots) $10.00, and Western Hemlock $1.50.

* Native (bare root) plants include Pacific Ninebark, Nutka Rose, Oregon Grape, Snowberry, Douglas Spirea, Thimbleberry, Mock Orange, Flowering Red Current, Indian Plum, Red Osier Dogwood, and Sword Fern.  All these will be $3.00.  Limited number of Deer Fern in premium 4” pots $5, and 2 gallon Oregon White Oak $10.

Plan to be outside without cover available, and expect to observe requirements as indicated by the Oregon Health Authority for social distancing, and thank you for wearing a mask.  Bringing bags/boxes to take items procured is appreciated.

Payment is cash and check only. Thanks for your patience as we do the best processing payment at quickly as possible with social distancing being observed.

*Species are ordered months in advance of the sale. Due to weather and other conditions, the nurseries cannot guarantee availability or quantities ordered; please note that if you are coming for a specific tree/shrub, it might not be available. The popularity of the sale has increased over the past few years, resulting in some participants being disappointed in not accessing their hoped for purchases; this has been noted.  Quantities of trees and natives have been increased for the 2022 sale.  Lane County OSWA appreciates the attendance of the community and is assessing ways to meet future needs.  Thank you, in advance for your participation, as this is our only fundraising event with proceeds going toward forestry and woodland education in our community. Lane County OSWA is open to feedback. Emails can be sent to committee coordinator Lindsay Reaves at lindsayga@peak.org. Please keep comments towards feedback.
