The Long Tom Watershed Council is hosting a project tour of streamside habitat and oak enhancement on a working ranch as part of this collaborative forest management workshop organized by the Lane County Small Woodlands Association. This all day event provides an exciting opportunity to explore private forest management with experts in the field on topics including how to manage a tree farm for wildlife habitat, forest health and disease, and forestry economics. There are three session slots throughout the day, and participants can select from three different options during each time. In addition to LTWC’s project tour, we encourage folks to check out the other highly informative sessions! (Click here for a full agenda of the day’s activities.)

Bauman Tree FarmCoyote Creek Project Tour Details:

Bus transportation to the LTWC project tour will be provided, using Bauman Tree Farm as the home base. The project tour is offered twice, from 10 – 11:30 a.m. and again from 1 – 2:30 p.m. on private property just across the highway from Bauman Tree Farm. LTWC Project Manager Jed Kaul will talk about:

  • Visit a project to improve oak savanna and streamside habitat on a working ranch
  • How the project improved food, cover, and habitat for wildlife
  • How thinning young firs from oak savanna habitat benefits native prairie plants and can offer additional pasture for the landowners
  • How this project’s proximity to several other habitat improvement projects is enhancing wildlife habitat in the Coyote Creek basin

DIRECTIONS: Meet at Bauman Tree Farm, 84289 Territorial Hwy (10 miles south of Veneta, 20 miles south of Eugene). Entrance to Bauman Tree Farm right at Milepost 29. Signs will be posted for directions and parking. Click here for a map.
