Your Gifts Matter to the Health of Fish, Wildlife, and People!

Your gifts are essential to keep the transformative work going for the health of our watershed. All told, our staff have envisioned, shepherded, collaborated, designed, and completed more than 200 long-term projects of restoration and healing in our watershed.

Since our founding in 1997 the Long Tom Watershed Council has:

  • Secured and leveraged $20 million in funding for restoration projects in the watershed.
  • Planted 915,556 native trees and shrubs since 2005. The millionth will be planted in early 2025!
  • Removed or replaced 49 fish passage barriers, including completely freeing four area streams of fish barriers.
  • Enhanced 110 miles of streams (by planting, instream habitat like log jams, etc.)
  • Enhanced 1,111 acres of upland habitat (oak, prairie, and wetland).
  • Treated 142 acres of oak and prairie habitat with ecological and cultural burns.
  • Treated 111 acres of urban stormwater with green stormwater infrastructure facilities.
  • Reduced by 99 percent the population of the invasive aquatic weed ludwigia in the watershed.

We do all of this and much more on shoestring operating budgets every year.

We very much need your support and ask you to invest in this work – in our community and the land and waters upon which we base our lives and the lives of our children. Invest in the power of healing and regeneration here in the home we share at this unprecedented time in human history. We are seeking to raise $250,000 in unrestricted gifts in the next two years to continue this vital work of restoration and healing. Please consider asking your employer to match your gift. And please consider the Council in planning your estate. Thank you for being on this journey together!

Give the gift of a healthier watershed home to yourself, your neighbors and family with a generous donation today.
