Welcome, Christer!

Christer LaBrecque was hired this month as
an Stewardship Technician

Christer LaBrecque

We are welcoming Christer as our new Stewardship Technician. Christer will be working with two watershed councils in the Upper Willamette Region, LTWC and the McKenzie Watershed Council. His role is to help manage habitat restoration projects and foster and maintain relationships with stakeholders.  After graduating from the University of Oregon in 2002 with a B.S. in Environmental Studies, he worked in the West Eugene Wetlands on wet prairie habitat restoration. He returned to New England to help to work on conservation and outreach in the estuaries of Rhode Island for the Narrow River Preservation Association. Then, for the past 9 years before joining the Council, he worked for the City of Eugene Natural Areas Operations crew. At this position, he worked half time on habitat restoration projects, focusing on oak woodlands, oak savanna, and upland prairies. The other half of his time was spent in trail design, construction, and maintenance in the Ridgeline Trail System. His goal of restoring and protecting our native habitats, plants and animals, and legacy oaks align perfectly with those of LTWC. He grew up in New England, including MA, CT, NH, and summering in RI. He’s lived in the Eugene area on and off since 1998. He and his family enjoy hiking, camping, reading, gardening, and many types of sports.
