Community Event: October 19 Elder Fire Talk: “Fall Stories of Earth and Land”

Featuring Marta Lu Clifford
Wednesday, October 19th
6 ~ 8 p.m.
Camp Lutherwood

The next in a seasonal series of Elder Fire Talks will be held on Wednesday, October 19th at Camp Lutherwood. These conversations center Tribal voices, and this next event has been organized by the Traditional Ecological Inquiry Program and by members of the watershed community who are committed to uplifting Indigenous perspectives.

Presenter Marta Lu Clifford will speak about Kalapuya ilihi, the traditional homeland of the Kalapuya people, the importance of land acknowledgements, and how you should be expanding work beyond a land acknowledgment. Marta will provide guidance on steps beyond a land acknowledgement to honor the Indigenous Peoples of your homeland. Using her own lived history and her stories, she will guide you on a journey to help you to honor Indigenous land, people, and tribal sovereignty.
