South Marsh Prairie Restoration & Willamette Daisy Reintroduction

This 200-acre site is just west of Eugene on the south side of Fern Ridge Reservoir along Hwy 126 and part of the 5,000-acre Fern Ridge Wildlife Area.

Project work included:

  • Enhancement of 69 acres of wet and upland prairie, including the treatment of nearly 50 acres of invasive plants like reed canarygrass.
  • Planting of ~ 10,000 plugs of rare Willamette Daisy
  • Planting 3 acres of floodplian forest with willows, spirea, ask, and cottonwood
  • Enhancing 15 acres of oak woodland by removing encroaching woody trees.
